Working Test , Cannock,
Staffordshire Sunday 26th April
Results
The working test was once
again held at the Hatherton Estate, we are very grateful to Mr Ray Nightingale
for inviting us to use this excellent ground to test our dogs. This year we used
the Mansty wood beat, which is a mature pine wood with a good covering of dead
bracken.
There were fifteen dogs
running, eleven being Clumbers and four being Welsh Springers two of the Welsh
ran in both novice and open making seventeen runners in total.
The day was run along the
lines of a field trial with the judges working through the card until each dog
had been seen by each judge the novice dogs first followed by the open dogs.
As I was running my own dog in
the open I was not able to see all the dogs work ,but from what I did see and
the positive comments from the helpers the standard of dog work was very good.
It was nice to see so many
people who had travelled long distances to attend to make the day a success.
Thanks must also go to our two
judges Mr Keith Carter and Mr. Ian Bogacki for coming to judge our dogs Keith
spoke highly of the improvements made to the Clumber breed over the past few
years.
Also praise must be made of
the Welsh Springers that made it into the awards in both novice and open, well
done to them. Also thank you to the Welsh handlers for supporting the event.
